![]() I’d like to bring that experience to this position to ensure broad representation at the bargaining table. While not at the U, my prior experience in restructuring a 100+ member organization to be measurably safer and more inclusive has taught me how to listen appropriately. While my experiences here aid in driving me, I’d like to ensure I get an accurate understanding of other’s experiences as well. As graduate worker, employment is very contingent on your advisor, there is a lack of explicit rights and support as workers, and often we are pressured into poor safety conditions. My first two years here, I had major health issues that made me acutely aware of some of the flaws in the current system. I’m running for the Bargaining Committee, because, not only do I care strongly for our rights as workers, but I think I’ll be able to listen to the needs and interpret them appropriately onto the bargaining table. (My advisor is in ECE, so you may see me there sometimes) Chemistry and Chemical Engineering and Materials Science LADYBAND promotes and celebrates woman-identifying artists and business owners in the Minneapolis community through chamber music performances and commissions. In addition to her involvement with the Marching Illini, Rose served as the founding president of the University of Illinois’ Nu Xi chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity.Īn active advocate and champion for women-identifying artists, Rose co-founded the LADYBAND Chamber Winds in Minneapolis, MN. While at the U of I, Rose was a four-year member of the Marching Illini serving as drum major for two years. Rose holds dual bachelor degrees from the University of Illinois in Instrumental Music Education and Piano Pedagogy. Under her direction, the program saw growth, retention, and spirit through the challenging years of the pandemic. From 2017-2022 Rose served as a band director at Matthews Middle School in Wauconda, Illinois where her responsibilities included teaching sixth through eighth grade band, running an extracurricular jazz program, and leading district-wide beginning band recruitment.
